Salisbury Hospice

Register today for a personal challenge and a great day out to raise money for Salisbury Hospice.

Choice of two signed and marshalled scenic routes to suit all abilities. A 60 mile challenging route or a 35 mile route to suit more novice riders.

Short route:

This 35 mile cycle ride takes you along quiet country lanes around Salisbury encompassing the picturesque Woodford Valley.  Starting at Salisbury Hospice, you will cycle along the undulating lanes through to Coombe Bissett.  From here, you’ll head into the Broad Chalke Valley before tackling your first hill over to Wilton House. At Wilton, a water station will be available to help you hydrate for the next few miles.  From Wilton House, you will cycle up through the quiet lanes to Great Wishford before heading up and over the open farmland to the Woodford Valley.  A clockwise loop around the valley will provide more gentle undulations and some beautiful scenery.  Once back to the bottom of Mile Hill, you will return along the same route to take you back to Wilton House.  Here, we will still be providing you with refreshments to help you refuel for the last few miles.  There is one last hill out of Wilton and then you will find yourself on the home run back to Salisbury Hospice.  It is a very scenic route with some noticeable hills spread throughout.  It would suit the novice cyclist who is keen to aim for a challenging and fun day out.

Long route:

This exciting 60 mile cycle ride is aimed for the novice or intermediate cyclist looking for a challenge to work towards in the next few months.  Similar to the shorter route, it starts from Salisbury Hospice and heads out along the country lanes towards to Broad Chalke Valley, over the ‘hill’ to Wilton House and then continuing up to Great Wishford and from here the Woodford Valley.  The route then diverges from the shorter ride and heads over towards Amesbury and Bulford.  The hill heading up and over into Bulford will get your heart racing!  From here you will head through Larkhill before enjoying the open landscapes of the Salisbury Plain. This lovely expanse of undulating land with wide, open roads will allow you to test your speed across the next few miles.  The route then descends down into Codford where you will join the Wiltshire Cycle Path back along the Wylye Valley and into Wilton.  Another fuel stop with refreshments will be available here to help you with your last few miles back to Salisbury Hospice.  This route is more challenging than the shorter ride, both in distance and elevation but will provide you with a huge sense of achievement and a fantastic goal for the summer.
