Mark Jackson is raising funds for Salisbury Hospice charity by Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

January 2019

Mark Jackson is about to embark on the challenge of a lifetime, scaling up Mount Kilimanjaro. He decided to raise money for the charity, saying:

I have decided on Salisbury hospice, as they looked after my wife's grandad and my own nan so well in their final days and thought this would be a good way to give back to them.

We caught up with him recently to find out more about his fundraising and how it was all going.

In February Mark takes on quite a challenge climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the 4th highest mountain in the world, standing at 4,900 metres (16,100 feet) from its base, over 5.895 meters (19,341 feet) from sea level. The planned trek is via the Machame Route and will take 8 days on the mountain. I've selected this route to (hopefully) avoid altitude sickness and to have the best chance of reaching the summit!

He's been extremely busy over the last few months with training including our Up The Donws fundraiser last September and walking the Jurassic Coastal path a number of times.

Head on over to Mark's Just Giving page to find out more and support him.
