Carers Day Flamenco Serenade

February 2019

On the last Friday of every month, it is carers day here at the hospice.

The aim of this is to provide carers with a safe space to talk, gain support and relax. The day typically involves a group support session, an opportunity to try a creative activity and/or a complementary therapy together with the opportunity to meet and talk with other carers.

Today carers were treated to a wonderful talk by Andrew Spence on the origins and traditions of Flamenco and how different musical influences have played a role in its evolution.

Andrew played his Spanish guitar beautifully and gave carers the chance to take part in the music with tutorials on the very specific nature of the clapping and the beat structure of the music.

Everyone had a wonderful time, thank you very much, Andrew!
