Lin Eastaugh and Mandy Charlick take on the Snowdon by Night Challenge for our hospice

June 2019

We love the incredibly varied ways all our supporters help to raise funds for Salisbury Hospice.

Lin Eastaugh and Mandy Charlick did something truly extraordinary, they completed the 'Snowdon by night' challenge on the 11 May.

They write:

We set off in a group of 37 walkers with Discover Adventure guides, from Llanberis at about 11 pm. We had a lovely clear evening, but it was quite chilly. The descent up from Llanberis is pretty steep to start with, so we soon worked up a sweat, and with clear skies and a lovely moon, we made good progress. Halfway up we stopped for a snack and drink, but by then the temperature had really dropped, so we pushed on to the summit. Fabulous views across the Menai Straits, but by the time we had reached the cairn at that top it was -4 and windy. Quick stop for photos, and to put on more clothing and gloves, tho by now our fingers were numb, and headed back down. The rocky descent is hard going on your knees and we were glad of our walking poles to help take the load. Arrived back at the hotel in Llanberis at 3.30 am 4 1/2 hours in total, to a welcome cup of tea, cooked breakfast and bed.

We had time to enjoy the views of Snowdon in the sunshine on the Sunday before heading back home.

Between them, they have raised an incredible total of £800 for Salisbury Hospice.
