Vintage Ploughing Match a Huge Success

December 2019

As a little girl, Tessa Clarke spent countless hours riding in her Grandad's tractor including during the annual ploughing match that he organised with his wife Bernie, earning her the nickname 'Grandad's little shadow'.

After her Grandad, David Pope, and his family were supported by our hospice in June 2019 Tessa and her sister Leanne wanted to continue this legacy, while at the same time raising funds for the incredible team that supported him.

The ploughing match took place, on a very wet day, at Jack's Bush Farm, Lopcombe by kind permission of Mark A Lovell on Saturday 9th November.

Despite the weather, the ploughmen who took part had a great time! This was an incredible event which included a tombola, raffle and a number of indoor games which raised a wonderful £1,250!

(pictured here are David's family, L-R, Bernie, Leanne, Tamsin - Community Fundraiser, Dawn, Tessa and Carly).

A video of the day was compiled and you can watch it below.

We cannot thank Tessa, Leanne and the rest of the family enough for this wonderfully creative way of helping us raise vital funds.
