Our #VirtualWessexCountryFair has been a huge success

The first-ever virtual edition of their annual Wessex Country Fair raised £1,360 for our hospice. Over 2,000 people tuning in to watch our ‘Hospice Village’ chats with staff from the team.

The Wessex Country Fair is one of Salisbury Hospice Charity’s biggest annual fundraising events. The event, which is usually host to arena displays, craft stalls, demonstrations, children’s activities, the hospice tea and cake village and much more, attracts thousands of visitors each year, raising over £30,000 for the hospice. Due to Covid-19, they have had to cancel this event, along with all their other fundraising events, which is having a detrimental impact on fundraising for the hospice.

Abi Blake, Events Fundraiser said:

“as we were no longer able to host our fabulous Wessex Country Fair, we decided to go Virtual this year, and we can’t thank our supporters enough, for getting on board with it and enjoying everything on offer”

Salisbury Hospice Charity’s Virtual Wessex Country Fair saw host to an array of fabulous online fundraising games, competitions, craft demonstrations, a raffle, online shopping market, an opportunity to host your own garden get-together and talks from the fabulous hospice team.

The Virtual Dog show proved very popular with hundreds of entries. Judged by Salisbury Dog Trainers and prizes kindly donated by Kong the winners of each category are as follows;

Most Lovely Lady - Mel Gevanaux Dinks, 5 and half years old.
Most Fabulous Fella – Rocket, Doberman 2 years old.
Cutest Puppy (under 2) – Teddy.
Gorgeous Oldie (7+) – Igloo, 10 years old, a Japanese Akita.
Best Rescue Dog – Chase, 2 years old, a Border Collie.
Facebook Favorite - Otto, a miniature poodle

Nobel Art Supplies Salisbury kindly donated and judged their Pebble Painting competition; and the winning pebbles go to Adam, Helena, Lotte and Rebecca.

Salisbury Hospice charity would like to thank everyone who hosted their own garden get-togethers, with fundraising games and delicious bakes. A special thank you goes to craft demonstrators Paige Alexandria, Gil Floral and Francesca Mclean for their amazing demonstrations.

This year’s virtual event was proudly sponsored by Step Associates Limited.

Deanna Dykes from the company said:

“We were delighted to be sponsoring the Virtual Wessex Country Fair, another innovative fundraising idea from the remarkable Salisbury Hospice Charity. Helping such a vital part of our community raise money in these challenging times is our pleasure.”
