Volunteering

There are currently over 120 volunteers who help at the hospice in many different ways. Their gifts of time, enthusiasm and expertise are greatly valued and provide much-needed help and support.

If you would like to join the team, there are many ways you can help us:

  • providing complementary therapies to patients*
  • manning the reception desk
  • attending to patients’ needs
  • supporting the day care patients
  • offering transport
  • providing respite for carers

If you enjoy working outdoors, we always welcome gardeners to look after the wildlife garden, a tranquil space much enjoyed by all our patients.

If you wish to share your creative talents, a number of activities are organised such as art and pottery and we are always interested in introducing new ideas.

The hospice also has a Pat Dog Service and patients’ pets are allowed to visit. On one occasion someone’s horse even came to visit at the window!

If you would like to find out more, please contact our volunteer co-ordinator Elaine Willman on 01722 425 113, or email elaine.willman@salisbury.nhs.uk.

There are many ways to help so if you can offer a skill that is not on our list, we are always open to suggestions.
