40th Birthday Virtual Balloon Race

Date: Friday 1st - Friday 8th January 2021

2021 marks 40 years of Salisbury Hospice delivering outstanding care to its patients their families and carers.

Be part of our 40th anniversary launch celebrations and buy a virtual balloon to be released New Year’s Day into the virtual skies above as we celebrate the start of a very special year for Salisbury Hospice.

The virtual balloon race is fantastic fun for all the family. The race mimics a real race and is based on real time and real weather data. Using algorithms, live weather systems and Google maps the virtual balloon-racing platform allows balloons to behave, fly and burst just like real balloons. Supporters can choose balloon colours and decorate them ahead of their release, then track their balloon on Google Maps and Satellite Imagery during the race.

It’s super easy to take part…..

1. Buy a virtual balloon – buy as many as you like!

2. Customise your balloon, colour, shape, design.

3. Select the rubber thickness and volume of helium.

4. Watch the balloon release online on New Year’s Day at 6pm

5. Track your balloon(s) over the next 7 days.

The balloon that travels the furthest over 7 days wins the race and a fabulous prize.
Balloon cost just £5 each. To buy a balloon visit our race website or call the office to purchase a balloon card, which will be posted out to you.

100% Eco Friendly

The beautiful part is not only will we raise much-needed funds for Salisbury Hospice, but also, unlike traditional balloon races that litter the countryside and endanger wildlife; our virtual balloon race is completely environmentally friendly.

This event is proudly sponsored by Smith and Williamson

“We are thrilled to support this fantastic cause alongside such a great activity. The 100% eco friendly virtual balloon race provides some fun for all during such a difficult time for everyone. I know it will definitely create some healthy competition across our office and many others. The hospice does some amazing work and we hope the funds raised can make a difference to such a fantastic local charity.”
