Peter Gillam Day Centre

Specialist palliative day care provision is offered at the Peter Gillam Day Centre, four days a week (Monday to Thursday). The centre provides social support for both inpatients and patients from the community as well as providing a day of respite for carers. It is a place where patients can relax and take part in a variety of fun activities as well as art, music and dance therapies, aromatherapy and reflexology.

Forest Forge Theatre Company runs a weekly drama session where patients have a chance to work together and be inspired. They play and create in ways they may not have done for years which does much to increase self-esteem and confidence.

Carers' Days are held in the centre on the last Friday of every month (10.30 - 14.30 with a buffet lunch). Their aim is to provide carers with a safe space to talk, gain support and relax. The day will typically involve a group support session, an opportunity to try a creative activity and / or a complementary therapy together with the opportunity to meet and talk with other carers. Staff from the hospice will be available throughout the day for professional advice and support. Carers may attend alone or with the person they are caring for. There will be an activity for patients during the morning, a hot lunch and time to relax in the afternoon.

'I enjoyed the whole day. Everything was a real treat.'
