Celebration Walk raises £15k for Salisbury Hospice Charity

Our first-ever Celebration Walk took place this Saturday in Salisbury. The walk encouraged participants to ‘step together in solidarity’ in celebration of their community and in reflection of the collective loss felt by us all during the pandemic.

Walkers participated in a 5 or 10 mile walk, which started and finished at The Guildhall in Salisbury. Before the walkers set-off they were treated to a fabulous performance from the Salisbury Rock Choir and a beautiful reading from Kelvin Inglis, Rector of St Thomas’s Church. Salisbury City Mayor, Cllr Tom Corbin, sent walkers on their way with words of encouragement and the cutting of the ribbon.

The walk took participants around the city centre, where they were welcomed into St Thomas’s church to light a candle. Finishers received a Silver Birch sapling in lieu of a medal, as a living reminder of whoever or whatever they were celebrating and were also presented with a ribbon that was then tied on to a special remembrance tree housed within The Guildhall.

So far, the event had raised £15,000 for Salisbury Hospice. The funds raised will enable the hospice to continue providing vital, end of life care, which will directly benefit patients and families within the community.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the walk and the individuals that sponsored them, members of the Rock Choir, Central Fruits, Bidfood, Tesco, Reeves the Baker, The Winchester Gate, Serve On, Spencer Mulholland Photography and would like to give a special mention to all the amazing volunteers, who so kindly gave up their evening in support of Salisbury Hospice.

“We are hugely grateful to everyone who took part and supported this event. It was so wonderful to see everyone come together, in support of each other after such a trying few years. We are delighted to be back hosting events and hope to see everyone at our next one, The Ultimate Wessex Country Fair, taking place on the 6th August on The Wilton House Estate”.
