Mayor Atiqul raises over £4,600 at his fundraising evening

On Wednesday 21st June, Mayor Atiqul Hoque hosted his first fundraising event of the year at The White Hotel in Salisbury.

The mid-summers evening included a drinks reception in the courtyard, a delicious two course meal and wonderful talk by Simon Banton on the Astronomy of Stonehenge.

With over 100 guests in attendance, the evening was full of enjoyment and appreciation in aid of supporting the Mayors chosen charities Salisbury Hospice, Riding for the Disabled and Wilton Rotary. The evening raised £4,600, including a superb raffle and auction.

Mayor Atiqul Hoque said,

Thank you everyone for attending and supporting my first dinner event. I’m humbled and words won’t do justice. It was a fantastic evening and the generosity shown by friends I can’t thank them enough. We were maxed out and managed to raise just over £4,600.

Alex Brown, Community Fundraiser for Salisbury Hospice Charity added,

We had a wonderful evening for the first Mayor’s Appeal event of the year, and learnt so much more about Stonehenge! The support and enthusiasm for the event, and for Atiqul, is superb and we can only hope for the same energy for all events!
